Does the live camera video leave the phone?
No. Plate detection runs on-device in Spot Watch. Live frames stay on the phone. After AUTO captures, one still is sent to read the characters and look up the rules.
Does Scan to Cite read plates fully on-device?
Detection and AUTO capture run on the phone: finding the plate, drawing the lock, firing the shutter. Character read happens on the captured still. That is why we say on-device detection, not fully offline LPR.
What if the phone is too slow for on-device detection?
Spot Watch turns the detector off on phones that cannot keep up. Manual Scan still works with a plate cutout guide, then the same check-plate and cite flow.
What is Speed Cite versus walking up to a car?
Walk-up is scan on the bumper: the phone finds the plate, AUTO captures, then you review and cite. Speed Cite is a queue of sessions the lot cameras already flagged. Swipe right to cite, left to pass. Same citation. Same appeal path.
Do we need lot cameras for Scan to Cite?
No. Walk-up works with a phone. Cameras make Speed Cite denser because the queue is already built. Digital Gate and Smart Enforcement are the camera tiers. This page is the handheld product.
What devices run Scan to Cite?
Spot Watch, and Scan to Cite inside it, is available on any iOS or Android device. Officers use the phone they already carry. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
